We use aggregated and anonymized data to analyze user behavior, identify trends, and improve the Application's performance and functionality.
We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information. We do use a small number of service providers to run Newsreel, such as our database, email delivery, and payment processing. They process data on our behalf, may not use it for their own purposes, and are bound by written terms at least as protective as this policy. Every one of them is named on our subprocessors page, which we update before adding any provider that can hold reader data.

You can stop all data collection by uninstalling the Application using your device's standard uninstall process.
We keep an account's email address and reading activity while the account is active, then delete it within 30 days. Server and access logs are kept 30 days. Support messages are kept two years. Payment records are kept seven years because tax law requires it. When a school or library subscription ends, we delete the personal information of its readers within 30 days. The consumer Newsreel app is for readers 13 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a child under 13 through the consumer app. If we learn that we have, we delete it. Parents or guardians can write to us at [email protected].
Newsreel Classroom works differently, and that is deliberate. Schools use it with students under 13. The Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act lets a school consent on behalf of parents when a service is used for an educational purpose and for nothing else. That is the basis on which Newsreel Classroom operates. We collect only what the school needs us to collect. We use it only to run the service for that school. We never use it for advertising, for marketing, or to train AI models, and we never sell it. Schools can see the full list at What We Collect About Students.
A parent who wants to see, correct, or delete their child’s information can ask the school, which will pass the request to us, or write to us directly at [email protected]. We act within 30 days either way.

We are committed to safeguarding your data. We implement reasonable physical, electronic, and procedural measures to protect your information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page, and the "Effective Date" will be updated. Continued use of the Application after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
